The flute makers, Wm. S Haynes, are sponsoring a flute All-star Competition in celebration of their 130th year. About the Artist

Ian Clarke is acknowledged as one of the leading player-composers in the flute world. His compositions have been performed across five continents and have established themselves as some of the most exciting flute repertoire of today, performed by internationally acclaimed performers, teachers, and students alike.

Clarke has performed in genres ranging from classical opera to a guest appearance with rock group Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson. Over the years Ian has been invited as a guest artist to many of the top flute courses. He is regularly invited to lead numerous flute events working with all ages and stages around the country and abroad.

Clarke is professor of flute at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. As a student, Ian studied with Simon Hunt, Averil Williams and Kate Lukas of the Guildhall School of Music, London. He concurrently studied Mathematics at Imperial College, London, graduating with Honours.

Ian also works extensively with musician/composer Simon Painter, writing, producing and performing music for film and television under the name Diva Music, for clients ranging from Microsoft to Oprah Winfrey.

Ian's publications include: Zoom Tube, The Great Train Race, Orange Dawn, The Mad Hatter, Hypnosis, Sunstreams/Sunday Morning, Spiral lament, Touching the Ether,, Hatching Aliens, maya, Curves, Within..., Walk Like This!, Zig Zag Zoo, T R K s, Tuberama, Midnight Creep, Deep Blue, and Beverley. There are currently two Hebron HS flutists looking to sell their old flutes.  I have never tried these flutes personally.  If you are interested in purchasing one please send me a message and I will put you in touch with the sellers.

Flute 1 is a Yamaha 281.  Recently repaired, new cork, pads checked, etc...  Student is asking $200

Flute 2 is an Armstrong flute.  The student did not know the model, but will contact me when she has it. She is asking $275.  The photos below are of the ARMSTRONG flute ONLY.
